Women’s Morning of Reflection Saturday June 5, 2021 from 9 am to 12 pm

“Rejoice in the Lord!”

The Women’s Fall Retreat team is presenting a Pentecost – Morning of Reflection on Saturday June 5, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Women of all ages are invited to join us to reflect on the JOY that marked the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit to the early church at Pentecost.

The keynote presentation will be given by Sarah Damm, a published Catholic writer and speaker from Minnesota, U.S.A. Sarah began her professional life working in communications in the Catholic education sector. As a busy mother of six, she continues to be engaged in women’s ministry. Sarah writes for Blessed Is She, CatholicMom.com and WINE: Women in the New Evangelization. Learn more about Sarah at sarahdamm.com. We are looking forward to having Sarah join our group of Canadian women for our Pentecost -Morning of Reflection.

Gather with us, along with Fr. Brian McNally, our WFR Spiritual Director, for a morning of faith-deepening talks, inspiring music and small group break out sessions. You will have the opportunity to connect with other women who are followers of Christ. Join us as we consider what it means to “Rejoice in the Lord.”

To register for this session, go to https://pentecost-morningofreflection.eventbrite.ca. The cost for the morning is $20.00 and will be presented on the Zoom platform. Registrants will receive the Zoom link the week before the event by email.

May 2-May 7, 2021 Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week 2021 Prayer

Gracious and generous God,
Creator of the earth, our common home,
with each new day, we prepare the earth
of our lives by sowing seeds of gratitude
for all you have given. Inspire us to
cultivate relationships with all living
beings. May we harvest new fruit and
marvel in the wonder at the beauty
around us. Nurture us in hope.
Amen.

“Those who hope in the LORD will renew
their strength.“(Isaiah 40:31)

Catholic Education Week 2021

Catholic Education Week 2021 begins on Sunday, May 2, 2021. The Catholic schools in our parish will engage in a series of events to celebrate the ongoing gift of publicly-funded Catholic education. You are invited to learn about the various celebrations that are happening in your children’s school, and are welcome to attend, if possible. Publicly funded Catholic education has existed in Ontario since 1841 and its graduates have served Ontario and Canada very well. The current generation of students in our publicly funded Catholic schools will serve with the same spirit and generosity as their previous generations.

This year’s Catholic Education Week theme is, “Nurturing Hope.”

The theme for Catholic Education Week 2021 was inspired by the following considerations:

  • Recognition of the special Year of Laudato Si’ which will run through May 24, 2021, announced by Pope Francis on May 24, 2020, the fifth anniversary of his papal encyclical, “On Caring for Our Common Home.”
  • In the face of the ongoing reality of the COVID-19 pandemic, a strong desire by the planning committee, along with those consulted, and supported by feedback from the survey, for continuity with the theme for Catholic Education Week 2020, Igniting Hope, which has served so well during the spring recess from in-school instruction.
  • The challenges to personal and spiritual well-being posed by the uncertainty and physical isolation of the current global crisis makes the timing and the concerns of Mental Health Week, which takes place during the same week as Catholic Education Week, all the more relevant.
  • Ongoing recognition of the Truth & Reconciliation Commission and the relevance of Indigenous culture and spirituality to the spirit of Laudato Si.

The CEW biblical quote is, “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31
